If you set up the machine properly, the movement allows your hamstrings to be under constant tension. The squeezing and stretching of the hamstrings works almost in the same way as squuezing your biceps. Make sure to focus in on the hamstrings and allow them to be under constant tension while doing most of the work

Lying Leg Curl

Focus on getting a neutral back and allow a good and slow enough stretch and squeeze

Romanian Deadlifts
The RDL is a more horizontal than vertical exercise. Focus on moving your butt back in a controlled way while keeping good posture and allow the hamstrings to be under maximal tension. Then push out in a controlled way with your hips
